Regulations of the Scientists' Night of the Silesian University of Technology 2019 


General provisions

§ 1

1. The Night of Scientists of the Silesian University of Technology 2019, hereinafter referred to as the "Event", is an exceptional popular science event organized in Silesia, which promotes science and its application in everyday life. The aim of the event is to encourage young people to constantly expand their knowledge, to study physical sciences and humanities, and in the future to carry out research and work as scientists. In addition, the objective of the event is to promote the University as an interdisciplinary and open-minded unit for all age groups of the society and to encourage young people to study and work in the field of science.

2. The regulations of the Scientists' Night of the Silesian University of Technology 2019, hereinafter referred to as the "Regulations", are directed to all participants who during the Event will be on the campuses of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, Katowice and Zabrze.

3. The Regulations define the duties and rights of the participants of the Event in view to ensure safety by defining the rules of behavior of persons participating in the Event, as well as the rules involving the equipment and devices used during the Event.

4. The Event will take place on October 12, 2019 on the premises of the campuses of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, Katowice and Zabrze.

5. The participant of the Event, hereinafter referred to as the "Participant", is a person staying in the area where the Event is organized.

6. Entering the premises of the Event is tantamount to accepting the provisions of these Regulations. Failure to get acquainted with the regulations does not exempt the participants from complying with their provisions.

7. The organizer of the Scientists' Night on behalf of the Silesian University of Technology is the Center for the Popularization of Science.


Rights and duties of the participants

§ 2

1. Access to the area of the university campus during the Event is free

 and is granted to all persons, except for cases specified in point 8 of this paragraph.

2. Minors participate in the Event under the sole responsibility of adults who look after them.

3. All Participants of the Event are obliged to behave in a way that does not endanger the safety of other people, and in particular to comply with health and safety regulations and the provisions of these Regulations.

4. The participants of the Event are forbidden to bring the following onto the area of ​​the Event or have any dangerous objects, in particular: weapons, ammunition, or other objects like explosives, pyrotechnic articles, fire-hazardous materials, alcoholic beverages, narcotics, psychotropic substances, or other objects of that type. 

5. It is forbidden to bring in animals onto the Event area except for guide dogs and assistance dogs.

6. On the Event premises it is forbidden to conduct any commercial, gainful activity, promotional, advertising or political agitation activities without the Organizer's permission.

7. On the premises of the Event it is absolutely forbidden to drink alcohol of smoke cigarettes.

8. The access onto the premises of ​​the Event is prohibited to persons who:

- are under the influence of alcohol, narcotic drugs, psychotropic drugs or other similar substances,

- are behaving aggressively, provocatively or otherwise posing a threat to public safety or order.

9. Furthermore, the following is prohibited:

- entering service rooms or staff premises, 

-  throwing any objects,

- announcing and displaying slogans with obscene, vulgar or racist content, calling for international, religious or social struggles, etc.

10. It is forbidden to block or obstruct exits and escape routes, access roads for emergency services, as well as other devices that are indispensable in the event of rescue or fire fighting operations during the Event.

11. In the case of noticing a fire or other threat to life, health or property, the Participants and people present at the Event should:

- inform immediately the person having the demonstration, 

- avoid panic,

- leave the Event premises in a quiet way.

12. The Organizer reserves the right to remove any Participant of the Event that violates the principles of personal culture and disturbs other people during the Event. The Participants of the Event are obliged to respect the principles of public property, respect greenery and avoid littering the area.

13. In the event of disputable issues not regulated by these regulations, decisions are made by the Organizer or by the person conducting a given presentation.

14. The Organizer is not responsible for items left or stolen during the Event and for incidents resulting from ill health or due to the fault of the Participants of the Event.


Registration of participants

§ 3

1. The registration of the Participants of the Event for which earlier registration is required starts on September 30, 2019 (i.e. on Monday / at 12.00.

2. The Participant of the Event referred to in § 3 point 1, is obliged to register his/her participation via the website www.nocnaukowcow.com.pl, by creating an account. By means of the available forms, the Participant creates his/her “own Night”, i.e. an individual program of the Scientists' Night.

3. The application form located on the website www.nocnaukowcow.com.pl, contains the Participant's data / name and surname, telephone number, e-mail /, information clause concerning the processing of personal data together with the information on free-of-charge use and dissemination of the Participant's image on film materials and photos during the Event, for promotional and information purposes to which every Participant of the Event agrees.

4. The Event may be attended by individuals and organized groups with a guardian, subject to the availability of a sufficient number of free places.

5. In the case of an organized group, the following information should be indicated in the registration field: organized group with the size of the group.

6. The organizer does not accept entries sent by email or by phone.

7. The statement of participation in the Event is tantamount to the acceptance of these Regulations.

8. In the event of any IT problems regarding the participation entries in the Event, the organizer reserves the right to cancel the entry and to organize another registration process. 

9. In the case referred to in § 3 point 6, the Organizer will inform electronically /mail, Facebook, website/   about another registration at www.nocnaukowcow.com.pl, 

10. Before entering the Event, the person running the presentation confirms the earlier registration of the Participants.


Final provisions

§ 4

 1. The Organizer reserves the right to establish the agenda and make changes in the course of the Event, and the right to introduce changes to the program of the Event in terms of content and duration, including the immediate termination of the Event, in the event of force majeure.

2. The Organizer is not held responsible for the effects of force majeure. Force majeure is defined as an event which is beyond the control of the Organizer, which makes the fulfillment of obligations impossible or may be considered impossible due to the occurred circumstances. Force majeure is in particular attributed to: atmospheric conditions, failures or disruptions in the operation of the installations supplying electrical energy.

3. The Organizer reserves the right to use and disseminate free-of-charge the Volunteer's image in films or photos taken during the Event for the information and documentation purposes for the Organizer, Honorary Patrons, Partners and Sponsors of the Event, for which each Volunteer of the Event agrees through their participation.

4. The present regulations will be made available at all exhibition stands during the Event, as well as on the website: www.nocnaukowcow.com.pl .
